Going on Country with Hay Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) and Nari Nari Tribal Council
April 2025
Vestas Abercrombie Wind Farm project manager and ERM have recently been on Country with Hay LALC and Nari Nari Tribal Council to work through a cultural values assessment. This approach, where intangible cultural heritage can guide major project development, is a new model and not a regulatory requirement. This assessment is leading practice beyond current legislative compliance in shaping a renewable energy project. Vestas recognises the centrality of First Nations’ values while in driving a sustainable future and is honored to be entrusted with traditional knowledge.
Listening to stories, gaining an understanding of the deep connection to the Hay Plain, and ensuring that cultural values are embedded within the initial design process for the Vestas Abercrombie Wind Fram project is essential for sustainable conservation outcomes.
We are grateful for the insights and knowledge generously shared with Vestas and ERM by Hay LALC and Nari Nari Tribal Council and further appreciate the opportunity to learn on Country.
