Working with the community

As Australia shifts its energy generation to renewable sources, Vestas is committed to working respectfully alongside the communities in which it operates.

Vestas believes effective engagement provides a unique opportunity for projects to benefit from local insights, work together with the community to address any concerns and build lasting and productive relationships that are key to a project’s long-term success.

We appreciate your understanding as we work closely with communities to ensure the benefits of this project are meaningful and lasting.

Community Grants and  Sponsorships

The Abercrombie Wind Farm team are committed to contributing positively to the community. As we move through the early stages of development we are focusing on supporting activities that directly benefit the most likely impacted communities, particularly in the Edward River Council, Hay Shire, Balranald Shire, and Murray River Council.

The ideas and initiatives we support now will help shape a larger annual fund once the wind farm is operational. The Abercrombie Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund will be proportionate to the project’s scale and impacts and be tailored to local needs. We will follow community-driven projects to deliver long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.

Application process:  Community groups and local events can apply for sponsorship now by completing this form, our project team will be in touch with you to obtain any supporting information.

In our guiding principles for providing support, we ask that you

  • Either operate as a not-for-profit organisation or otherwise as a recognised local community or regional level entity.

  • Provide a direct benefit to communities within our local LGAs.

  • Be linked to a community goal such as: Education, Economic Growth, Access to Affordable and Clean Energy, Community Life, Relief Programs and Emergency Response.

  • Positively contribute to your community’s social wellbeing.
